Great Basin & SouthWestern Railroad
The Good Service Road
Welcome to Mel's Great Basin & South Western Model Railroad Blog. My model railroad is about 1960's and 1970's Railroading and how I understand that to be. There was still plenty of first generation and early second generation Locomotives running around back then as well as Train order Towers, Reefer Trains, old Heads from the days of Steam still working the Rails and Railroads that have sense faded into the pages of History.
For me it's about having Fun and enjoying other's camaraderie. I try to focus on 1st and early 2nd generation motive power and recreating some of the things I remember as a Boy and young Man from the 1960's and 1970's when trackside.
The Layout runs very well as I've have feeders going to each piece of track and Tam Valley "Frog Juicers" powering all yard switch Frogs with more to come. I'm in the process of installing Circuitron "Tortoise" switch motors with 5 installed on mainline sidings with more to come.
It's a work in progress and I sure have a lot of fun with my Layout and I hope you will too.
