I would like to share with you what I've done so far with the Digitrax DCC system I've installed on my layout. I have been using Digitrax now for almost twenty years and have found it to be very robust and easy to use. I am currently using a DCS-240 command station powered by a Digitrax PS14 power supply. The Loconet has 6 UP5 Universal Panels with a UR93 Duplex Radio Transceiver. My Club had attempted to use the UR90 Simplex Radio Transceiver along with a UR92 but had issues with this set-up so I've opt to go with just the UR93 Duplex which enables me to acquire and dispatch without having to plug into the Loconet system like I had to do in the past when using the UR90.
Another item I use made by Digitrax is the LNWI which is the WIFI interface that enables me to run trains using my iPhone, iPod or iPad. I use the WiThrottle app on my iPhone, iPod or iPad to control my Trains and must say, this adds a whole new dimension to my layout, in fact, I almost use WiThrottle as much as I use the Digitrax throttles to run Trains on my layout. It is very user friendly and has a lot of great features that make running trains very enjoyable.
The thing to remember when setting up your Digitrax LNWI which I found to be somewhat confusing when reading the instructions on setting up my LNWI is to go into your device's WIFI settings and change the WIFI from what you normally use such as your Home WIFI to the Digitrax WIFI which should look something like this “Dtx1-LnServer_XXXX-7” and once it shows a checkmark next to the Dtx1-LnServer_XXXX-7, go back into the WiThrottle app where now you should be able to acquire a locomotive of your choice. Check it out, you'll be glad you did!
